WHO ARE WE???

Welcome to Burrwood! Whether you are a long time client, looking for a new vet, or have an urgent care need we can help you with, we are so happy to have you! Burrwood is not only a veterinary hospital, it is a whole experience! We are a small animal, dog and cat only practice in Royal Oak. We opened our doors October of 2022 and have had the privilege of serving over 5,000 animals and counting! We started with two doctors, Alex Schechter (owner and founding veterinarian) and Lauren Zeid (founding veterinarian). Dr. Bianca Buffa started in May of 2023 and we can’t wait for Dr. Kendall Floto to join our team this June! We have 12 amazing skilled technicians that make it possible to provide the highest standard of care for both our patients and our clients. 

We first and foremost pride ourselves in offering the best medicine possible to our patients. We offer sick and general wellness appointments including dentistry, and routine surgeries, but our focus is for urgent cares and same day appointments. We work closely with nearby specialty hospitals, have a mobile board certified surgeon perform more advanced orthopedic and soft tissue surgeries, offer complete abdominal ultrasounds with radiologist review, and digital x-rays are reviewed by a radiologist for the most thorough care. 

However, we all know we can’t do it without the fur parents, so we also focus on making sure we are transparent, convenient, and dedicated to client service. We have windows looking into the treatment area from one of the exam rooms and the lobby so you are welcome to watch your animals receive diagnostics and treatments- and of course treats, hugs and kisses! We hope to make communication seamless by offering online appointment booking, texting and email options. We also know that going to the vet can be stressful, so things like a calming decor, treats, and fear free techniques are utilized whenever possible to make coming in as easy as possible.
